Chilean firm, Rearquitectura, has designed the Lofts Yungay II in Valparaíso, Chile. These colorful lofts are built to conform to the hill and slope terrain, characteristic of the surrounding geographical landscape. Beautiful views of the ocean can be admired from within.

In celebration of Mexico’s bicentenary, Gregorio Vasquez and Manuel Wedeles of America’s Vasquez and Wedeles Architects have come up with an award-winning design selected in the 10th International Arquine Competition to commemorate the country’s 200 years of independence in 2010.

Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, VitraHaus is a multi-layered structure that recently opened at the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, Germany.
Designed to display the furniture brand’s Home Collection, the five-story building consists of stacked volumes with pitched roofs covered in charcoal stucco. Each end is glazed and shoots outwards up to 16 feet (5 meters), creating the impression of a pile of houses.

I recently came across the work of Anthony Paul Landscape Design and was reminded I hadn’t done much of anything in my own yard. Anthony Paul has a great set of projects that show off his talents when it comes to modern landscaping. I love the large concrete bowl like planters, maybe a DIY on a smaller scale. I bet it is so relaxing to to just sit and enjoy these amazing environments.

STEVE MCQUEEN’S IDAHO RANCH

Steve McQueen’s Moon Ranch is up for sale just outside of Sun Valley, Idaho for $7.4 million dollars. The two-story house sits on over 500 acres and includes a 1,728 square-foot garage. The house itself is really quite nice and the location is fantastic.

Everything about this home brings up a random, undefined wave of nostalgia. Growing up I was never around homes like this, but the surrounding woods look all too familiar. If I was to pick my favorite part about this house I would have to say it would be the use of the dark vertical siding for its color palette. The palette is a really natural reflection of the surrounding trees.

ISAP is an Architectural Design firm based in Noida , India into delightful built spaces. We conceptualized and built an eco friendly office for ourselves keeping in mind that the energy consumption should be low and a natural ambience should pervade the building.

A former industrial hall, located in Calais, France has been converted by the architects of french atelier Bang Architectes. The project expands a vast urbanistic renovation initiated by the Moatti&Rivière Architects. The project aims to turn an abandoned hall into a dominant object, that would attract potential young and curious users. The west gable is clearly visible and is, after the renovation, supposed to project a strong signal into the public space.

Originally purchased by a Los Angeles family drawn to the quiet neighborhood and ocean views, the place needed what they called a “major overhaul.” And major it was: four years in the making, the refurbishment preserved only two of the home’s original main walls — but now it is a stunning, soaring design of wood and glass that capitalizes on incredible vistas on both ends of the site.
